For Mentors
We want to encourage and equip you to become a Beautiful Womanhood Mentor.
The need for marriage mentoring was highlighted by the Apostle Paul in a letter to Titus 2:3-5 (NLT). “These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to take care of their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.”
Marriage mentoring among women is a God idea but it can also be frightening! We want to take the fear out of the equation by sharing some thoughts about mentors.
First: Mentors are not perfect women enjoying perfect marriages. If you fall into this category, we urge you not to become a Beautiful Womanhood mentor! Perfect women cannot make a connection with imperfect women. Establishing a connection with another woman or women is what makes mentoring so powerful.
Second: The key to establishing a connection is a willingness to share from your struggles as well as your successes. The struggles will signal to those you mentor that you are real—just like them. If you are willing to be vulnerable with those you mentor, you have the makings of a successful mentor.
Third: Without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a knowledge of His word, we as mentors have nothing to offer those struggling to find their way. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the Life. Mentors have learned to walk out godly principles in a practical way and this experience has the potential to make a powerful impact in the lives of those mentored.
If you can say: I wish that I knew what I know now—when I was younger, you have mentoring potential! Take a step of faith and obedience and say “yes” to mentoring marriages.
