Fast-for-a-Breakthrough Challenge

I’ve talked to so many women lately who are desperately seeking and praying for a break-through in their marriage. Because I’ve been there twice, I understand the painful, far-reaching effects of a marriage in trouble.  Whether you’re suffering the effects of addiction, abuse, unfaithfulness, money mismanagement, unemployment, parenting issues, or an uncommunicative spouse–there is HOPE!

Both times Tom and I struggled with issues too difficult for us to overcome on our own, FASTING proved to be the powerful force capable of shattering the barriers which separated us.  Fasting is potent, yet so many know so little about it.  That’s where Beautiful Womanhood steps in.

Beginning April 1-21, Beautiful Womanhood will be starting The Fasting-for-Your-Marriage-Breakthrough Challenge.  During the challenge, I’ll be posting a weekly blog (subscribe so you don’t miss them) where I will

  • disclose lessons about what fasting is and is not
  • share HELPFUL TIPS about fasting
  • reveal testimonies from my life and others who’ve fasted for a breakthrough

On Facebook each weekday, I’ll be posting video and written questions that will help encourage you along your fasting journey as well as share personal anecdotes from my own fasting journey–that’s right–I’ll be fasting right along with you!

If you’re going on a planned Spring Break vacation, don’t worry–you can still participate in the Fasting Challenge on a limited basis and enjoy the benefits.  I’ll share how in my first blog.

Ladies, we’re going to hear awesome testimonies as we CONNECT , share and grow with each other so you don’t want to miss out! You’re also going to want to invite every woman you know that could use a breakthrough! Don’t delay…send her this blog and invite her to the Challenge.

Marriage within the church is struggling to the same degree marriage outside the church is.  Let’s do something new (fasting)  in order to enjoy different results in our marriages which will capture the attention of those who don’t yet know our Jesus.

PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD…

Sandy

Thank you so much for this. I will be inviting as many women as I can. I am recently unemployed for the 1st time ever in my life. Just started a business making invitation cards for weddings and other functions. Things are not looking good @ all. Been married for 2yrs, need God in my life now more than ever. Have been trying to hook-up with my friends for a prayer meeting but doesn’t seem to materialise. Thanks and praise be to God!

      Dear Nomhle,
I’m sorry you lost your original job–that must be difficult. However, I believe God’s plans for you are still great! For the past several years, my husband’s job situation was up and down with several periods of unemployment. But through it all, God provided for our needs and God recently
blessed him with a great job. I’m envisioning The Beautiful Womanhood Fasting-for-Your-Marriage Challenge to be a sort of prayer meeting as we share, grow and connect with each other. Welcome!

God truly is good! I’ve been standing for my marriage for more than a year now. Just this evening I messaged a friend and told her that I feel like I just want to get divorced and start over, but I also want someone to talk me out of it. I know the promises God has made and I know that He has great things instore for my family, but I still just seem to get so discouraged. Well I feel like we’ve reached rock bottom, our marriage, our finances, our jobs, our family, everything just seems to be so “messed up” right now. Anyway, after chatting to my friend, I sat on the floor with my kids and I was speaking to God, I sat there asking if this is really what He wants for me and the kids? I asked Him if the kids and I would be better off alone? I sat, knowing that I love my husband so much, that divorce is not even an option, but yet it seems like the only option (does this even make sense?). I picked up the phone, logged onto Facebook and I come across the link to this site. As I was reading the headline, God said “there’s your answer”. I was so excited when I read this, but at the same time I thought to myself “this fast will be my last resort” and God again jumped in “Expect the unexpected” Praise God! I’m all fired up for this fast!

      Dear Candice,
God IS Good!! Your message brought tears to my eyes and chills to my body! God is moving on your behalf because of His great love for you! Everything you said makes sense to me. I just want to say how proud I am of you for taking the next step and I’m cheering you on. God DOES have great plans for your marriage and family and I don’t want you to miss out on them. Did you know that 2 out of 3 people who say “I have a bad marriage” will say “I have a good marriage” in 5 years? I believe these will be your words. I also agree with God’s words to you. Fasting is your answer and you can expect the unexpected. I sure did! You’ll learn more about my testimony by following the blog and fb. I’m excited to share this journey with you! Blessings dear, beautiful woman!!

Thanks for this challenge. My husband is unemployed and I am now finding it difficult to deal with. Sometimes I feel like is it truly worth it. I have fasted, but I never thought to fast about my marriage. We have only been married for 4 months and we are already under attack. I need this because I have no one to talk to and this will help also build my relationship with God. Thanks again.

      Dear Antoinette,
You are not alone–there is a beautiful community of women at Beautiful Womanhood who will encourage you and walk alongside you as you seek God for His best in your marriage. Welcome to this Fast-for-Your-Marriage challenge!

  • Maria Duffy

I am excited about this. I think every marriage could use this. Sometimes the woman has to be strong one the prayer warrior for the family.

    • admin

      Dear Maria,
You are strong and your prayers make a difference. The book of Revelations reminds us that our prayers are like incense held in golden bowls in God’s presence. He’s aware of each one. When we fast, there is added power attached to our prayers so you can expect the break-through you need for your family. Welcome to the fast! Invite others you know who are struggling–I don’t want anyone to miss out on all God has for them. Blessings!

I would love to do this challenge! I have been feeling God pulling at my heart lately concerning fasting so this is right on time especially if it concerns fasting for my marriage. We have been married for 1 1/2 years and although it has been good it has also been ROUGH! But God has never failed us! Good and bad, he has been right there. We are both also going through a period of unemployment. But even in that we have not lacked (for long) what we needed. This is going to give me the boost that I need to get in there and fight! How long is the fast going to be each day?

    • admin

Hi Makeda, I’m glad you’re joining the Challenge! Check out the latest blog post to determine what kind of fast will be right for you! Let me know if you have further questions :)

  • Sonja

    Hi,
I was wondering what exactly are we fasting from??

  • Paula

I am so encouraged by this!!! My husband of 14 years is having an affair and has left me and our twins. I refuse to give up on my marriage/family!!! My constant prayer is for God to make a way for my marriage to be saved.

    • admin

Dear Paula, I’m sorry you are going through this! Your strength, determination and courage is a blessing to hear. Prayer AND fasting is powerful! I will agree with you for the restoration of your marriage. Welcome to this Fast-for-Your-Marriage!

  • Erica Martin

My husband and I have been separated since the first week in February. The plan was for us to fast for Lent and the decide if we wanted to reconcile. I have been fasting m but he stopped early in the fast. I have previously thought that God would see our family reunited but now I am having doubts. I feel like I keep coming across these signs (like your FB post) that I need to remain faithful but he is not getting the same messages so what’s the point. I want to keep fasting but I’ve not experienced the breakthrough I was expecting.

    • admin

Erica, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. I’m not sure what form the break-through you are fasting for will come in, but rest assured, a break-through will come. When I fasted for my marriage, it took a few months to see the results, but I DID see results. During this challenge, I believe you will be encouraged and supported by the other women. Don’t forget to Like us on Facebook to join in the discussion. You are NOT alone!

  • Tiffany

I am getting married this June. I am praying for a successful and happy marriage. I will be taking on as being someone’s mother now(blending family). I am praying for strength, happiness, and peace.

  • Maya

I love this! I am excited about what God is going to do in my life regarding my marriage!

  • Jennifer

Im greatful and thankful that this opportunity has been presented to me and although I do fast, probably without even knowing it, Im excited to paricipate in this endeavor. I just want the assurance that God will continue to strengthen the bond that my husband and I have already. There have been a few challnges with some wayward women in our church and His way to deal with it is not always clear to me. I will gladly participate in this fast and encourage a few of my friends to do the same. God bless you and thanks

  • Verdina

I am planning to participate but want to know if I can do so and get the full benefit without being on Facebook because giving up the food won’t be a challenge but giving up the electronic distractions such as Facebook would be a true sacrifice.

  • admin

After the fast, check back in with us on Facebook to tell us about your experience Verdina. God bless you!
